Why Odoo admins install it

Backups usually fail quietly. The module is built around noticing that early and keeping a good copy somewhere safe.

You find out the same day

A red bar in the activity chart and an optional to-do on the job make a missed backup hard to overlook.

Copies outside the server

Send the same database to a local folder and to the cloud, so a dead disk does not take your backups with it.

Old files clean themselves up

Each job deletes files past the age you choose, so the backup folder never fills the disk.

Plain PostgreSQL files

Backups are standard pg_dump output. Any DBA can restore them without this module installed.

Where your backups can go

Each job has one destination. Add a second job to keep an extra copy away from the server.

Server folder

Any path the Odoo user can write to.

SFTP server

A NAS or second machine with host, user and path.

Google Drive

A shared folder link or My Drive, signed in with OAuth 2.0.

Dropbox

A folder inside the Dropbox app, authorized from the job.

Amazon S3

A bucket and prefix, with keys on the job or in ~/.aws/credentials.

One form per backup job

A job holds everything about one backup: the database, the destination, the format and how many days of files to keep.

  • Test connection before saving, so a typo shows up now and not at 3 a.m.
  • Run backup now for a copy right before an upgrade or migration.
  • The chatter logs each run with the path of the file it wrote.

Which backup format to choose

All formats come from pg_dump. If you are not sure, keep the default custom archive.

FormatUse it for
Custom archive DefaultMost databases. Compressed, and pg_restore can bring back a single table.
TAR archiveLarge databases where you want to pick objects during restore.
ZIP archiveA single file to download or hand to someone else.
Plain SQLTiny databases you might want to open in a text editor.
Dump with filestoreSmall databases you want to restore in one go from the Odoo database manager.

A record of every run

The History list answers the usual audit questions: when did the last backup finish, how big was it, and did anything fail this month.

  • Filter by job, status or trigger: manual, scheduled or imported.
  • History older than your limit is removed weekly. Set 0 to keep everything.

Set the schedule once

The module has its own page in Settings. Choose the interval, see the next run time and switch on failure notifications without touching scheduled actions.

Before you buy

Which Odoo versions does the module support?

This page sells the Odoo 20 build, for Community and Enterprise. Builds for earlier versions back to Odoo 8.0 are also available. Mention your version when you order or write in if you are unsure.

Can I use it on Odoo Online (SaaS)?

No. Odoo Online does not allow custom modules, and the module runs pg_dump on the server. You need a self-hosted or on-premise Odoo server with the PostgreSQL client tools installed.

What do I need before installing it?

pg_dump on the Odoo server, write access to the target folder, and the account details for any cloud destination: a Google OAuth client, a Dropbox app, or AWS keys for S3. The Help tab on each job explains where to find them.

Does the module restore backups too?

It creates and manages backups. Restoring uses the normal tools: pg_restore for custom and TAR files, psql for SQL and ZIP, and the Odoo database manager for a dump with filestore.

Where can I read reviews or see the listing?

The same module is listed on the Odoo Apps Store, with the full feature list and screenshots for each version.

How do I get help after buying?

Email Hilar AK with your Odoo version and a screenshot of the job form. Setup questions and bug reports are both welcome.
